Enjoy The Best Massachusetts Auto Insurance Rates

The state of Massachusetts possesses the record of having the highest auto insurance claim rate in the United States. Moreover, it has the fourth highest auto insurance rates in the country. To address this, a new insurance system is proposed wherein consumers are allowed to choose and shop around for auto insurance policies with the best coverage and policy rates. This new system aims to motivate insurance companies to offer competitive Massachusetts auto insurance rates and provide the good drivers in the state to enjoy the best insurance policy rates while at the same time, motivating high-risk drivers to improve their driving and take personal responsibility for their driving actions.

As of 2003, Massachusetts auto insurance rates for premiums averaged at $1,134 while national average is only at $914. Many people have the misconception that this is fixed rate imposed by the state and assessed by all auto insurance companies so they do not bother to shop around for cheaper auto insurance products. The state requires all vehicle owners and drivers to have minimum liability coverage for both bodily injury and property damage liability. Minimum bodily coverage for each injury is $20,000 to $40,000. Property damage liability, on the other hand, has a minimum limit of $5,000. Personal Injury Protection (PIP) is also required by the state to cover for reasonable and necessary medical expenses for a driver and his passengers. In this state, minimum PIP coverage is $8,000. Some drivers choose to decrease their Massachusetts auto insurance rates or premiums by applying a deductible to their liability coverage. Moreover, the state of Massachusetts follows the no-fault system which mandates that an insurance company will settle injury claims regardless of whose fault an auto accident is. This system also does not allow drivers to sue for damages unless the cost of sustained injuries or property damage exceeds the coverage of the auto insurance. Auto insurance laws in this state also require uninsured motorist bodily injury coverage to cover for costs of injuries sustained from auto accidents figuring a driver with no liability insurance. In addition, a number of auto insurance companies in this state offer optional coverage features in their insurance products like medical payments, collision and comprehensive insurance.

Generally, Massachusetts auto insurance rates are determined by the behavior of all the drivers in the state, as a whole. Insurance companies compute their rates by determining the total cost that they incur for providing liability protection including settlements and legal fees and divide this by the number of drivers in the state. Massachusetts auto insurance rates may differ from person to person as the driving record, age, address and the vehicle type will also be considered. Auto insurance companies employ different ways in computing auto insurance premiums. It is an advantageous for every consumer to shop around for the best insurance protection with the most affordable price. With diligence, you may be able to avail of the best Massachusetts auto insurance rates even if you do not have a perfect driving record.
